Is therapy really a record of your dirty laundry?

Well I am the plaintiff in a personal injury case....And I had gone to therapists before for anxiety etc...And talked about my dirty laundry thinking it was private.....Now all my therapist notes are public....Things that I told in confidence, like how I didn't get along with my roommate has been exaggerated into I'm crazy and can't have normal relationships...am mentally unstable.

Should therapists be avoided??? I don't think I ever want to see a therapist ever again...Not even something like Marriage Counseling....It is just a log of all your dirty laundry neatly compiled for someone to use against you.

I had a similar experience, except the therapist didn't write what I told her and made assumptions about my character based upon what I told her. I filed for disability because my illness was causing actual physical effects such as retarded speech and memory problems. My depression was caused by 5 years of harassment by superiors in the workplace. When I read what the doctors and therapists wrote I was disgusted, and told the disability office I would never talk to another psychological doctor or therapist again. They basically attempted to make me look like a child abuser and psychopath, and defended the company I worked for. Yes, anything they write about you in a therapy session, whether it is true or not, can and most likely will be used against you later in life. These people claimed my depression was a relapse from 20 years earlier, and refused to even acknowledge that I had been traumatized by what took place in the workplace, so they basically destroyed an innocent persons life. The funny thing is I've never been arrested or even had a traffic ticket, but they succeeded in making me appear to be a psychopath, but no matter what they say about you, and no matter what evidence you have to prove them wrong, there isn't a lawyer alive that will defend you. The only thing I ever went to court for was taking batteries out of a smoke detector. It is pretty sick they have labeled me as a threat to society and my own children for Christs sake because I told them I had anger issues with the people who had been harassing me and had thoughts about killing them. Anyone whose life was destroyed because of slander and harassment would feel the same way, that does not make them a threat to their family or to complete strangers, but like I said they make assumptions, and rarely write what you say, they assume they know what kind of person you are by what you say. One shoe fits all, the reasoning behind your actions has absolutely no bearing, you are grouped into a category, and they get paid.
