Hi I have got my predicted grades for my gcse and im wondering if it is good enough to get into medicine?
I am in year ten and here are my predicted grades:
Maths- A*
Aditional science- A
Core science- A*
English literature- A
English language- A
Business-B
Geography-B
History-A
German-B

I would also like to know... Does your gcse grades affect what university you go to?
If you achieve those grades then you are on your way, but be warned that most of yuor competition will be getting them too, and more. You need to make sure you have a good, rounded package to sell to the university.
You MUST get some work experience, I've not heard of anyone getting anywhere without it recently (I'm sure someone will now contradict me, but that's my experience). While it is nice to get experience working with doctors, in reality it is difficult to get unless you know someone, so health care assistant work, nursing homes etc will suffice (the argument about why potential doctors are forced into work experience in a field that isn't "being a doctor" will rage forever).
Read well (everyone, but EVERYONE read New Scientist religiously at school when applying to do medicine.... I'm not sure it was helpful, but we were all convinced it needed doing!) ,do some extracurricular stuff, medics love their sport. Even if you're not sporty at least give it a try. Non-sport stuff is great too e.g. music/drama, as is anything that shows initiative and management skills i.e. charity work, DofE, scout leadership etc.
I'd like to think that someone with 12 A*s at GCSE and 5 A*s at A-level but with no life outside of the books would not get in over someone with slightly lower grades, but a healthy and active life outside school. That could certainly happen a few years ago, I'm not so sure now.
